Playing Field and the Park |
|
The Millennium Park is situated in Hewell Road and “Parker’s Piece” Playing Field, Bittell Road, just behind the Baptist Church.
These open spaces are greatly valued by the majority of people in the village and are managed by the Parish Council.
Both are inspected annually by RoSPA and the Parish Council places great emphasis on its duty to ensure that they are safe. It is hoped to renew the old paths in the park as they are not compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act and are a Health and Safety risk due to the loose surface. It is also intended to update the park and make it more user friendly.
All fencing, pathways, equipment, furniture and planting complies with the increasingly more stringent requirements of RoSPA and the Disability Discrimination Act. |

The origin of Parker's Piece |
| “Parker’s Piece” is so named after Councillor Sheila Parker, who retired from the Parish Council at the end of May 2006. Councillor Parker was the first Chairman of Barnt Green Parish Council on its inauguration in 1993. Previous to that she had served the interests of Barnt Green on the Parish Council of Alvechurch. It was due to her vision, efforts and tenacity that we now have the playing field off Bittell Road – now known as Parker’s Piece. |
